Also known as Tibetan Dog, Lhasa Apso, produced in Tibet, China, his physical appearance resembles a lion, before the 20th century, except for the origin of Tibet, rarely seen this breed. It is now a very desirable family dog. The Lhasa Apso is also known as the "Holy Dog of Exorcism".
There are many monasteries and lamas in Tibet, and the Lhasa Apso was originally used as a companion and guard dog for the monks in these monasteries. So it was unlikely that this breed could be purchased at the time, but historically the Dalai Lama also used the Lhasa Apso as a gift to his court and neighboring countries to make friends with dignitaries, and it was widely spread around the world because of its magnificent appearance. The dark brown eyes are neither too large and plump nor too small and sunken.
Heavy head trimmed with hair that drops in front of the eyes, with a substantial beard and moustache; narrow head, distinctly concave behind the eyes, not quite flat, but not arched or apple-shaped either. The straight front face has sufficient length. The noseglasses are black and the distance from the noseglasses to the eyes is about 1/3 of the distance from the noseglasses to the back of the head.
Ears: Drooping with abundant feathery trimmed hairs.
Mouth and muzzle: The preferred bite is a pincer bite or a slight jaw protruding bite. Muzzle length is moderate; a square muzzle is very annoying.
Body shape: distance from shoulder joint to hip slightly greater than shoulder height, well supported ribs, strong loin, very well developed hindquarters and thighs.
Legs: Straight front legs; front and hind legs are heavily covered with hair.
Paws: with many feathery trimmed hairs, round, cat-like feet with thick pads.
Tail: with a lot of feathery trimmed hairs, spirally curled behind and possibly kinked at the end. A low tail is a serious defect.
Coat: Heavy, straight, stiff, not woolly or silky, of sufficient length, and very dense.
Color: Any color is acceptable, ears and whiskers with or without dark ends. The Lhasa Apso, born on the Tibetan plateau, must of course have a good voice, barking a few times when nothing is wrong, and has a great ability to distinguish strangers, so it is very suitable as a watchdog, and this dog is small but very strong and enduring.
The Lhasa Apso has high self-esteem, is alert, cheerful, obedient to a trusted owner, and has a beautiful long coat that covers its body.
The Lhasa Apso is intelligent, obedient, alert to strangers, strong and brave, and an excellent watchdog. Because of its small size, the dog is suitable for home ownership and can be a good companion dog.
