The dog originated in the 17th century and was initially used to chase wolves, wild boars and other prey, and is a breed with excellent athletic ability. The Weimaraner's morphological characteristics can be well reflected in its appearance, with a robust physique, a well-balanced body proportion, and a firm and strong appearance without excess fat. It is fast and has good stamina, and it is with these advantages that it hunts down prey very quickly and can do its job very quickly and well.
The Weimaraner has a standard height, generally 25-27 inches for males and 23-25 inches for females. It has taut skin, a straight upper lip, and a keen, intelligent face. With long ears similar to the shape of a leaf, positioned high; the distance between the eyes is wide, the eyes are gray or orchid gray, and the bright eyes make people look intelligent. The body is medium in length, with a straight, sturdy backline; the front limbs are strong and straight, and the hind limbs are muscular; the toes are compact, dense and long and webbed, with thick pads and short nails, and wolf toes that must be removed.
The coat of the Weimar Hound is short so it is afraid of the cold, the texture is smooth and shiny, and the color is generally pure gray or silver gray, which looks very noble. The character traits of the Weimaraner are almost identical to its appearance, brave and resourceful. For the master they have a good obedience, for the owner they behave very friendly, for children they also show a close and good attitude, very suitable in the family breeding. They are brave but not impulsive, listen to the master's command, after receiving orders they will not hesitate to complete the mission.
They are submissive to their owners, so they are easily trained and learn quite quickly. The active dog likes to run around, but the coat is short so there is no need to worry about messing it up, so it doesn't need constant grooming.
