The Sirihan Terrier is a breed that was created entirely by human improvement and is named after the Sirihan of John Edwards' estate in the Welsh town of Haverfordwest. The dog first appeared at a local dog show in Wales in 1903, and it slowly became more widely known.
Between 1850-1891, John Edwards bred this breed, known for its bravery in capturing badgers, otters, and foxes, from an unnamed strain. And as the Sirihan Terrier's working ability caught the public's interest, they slowly began to take the place of other terriers in prominent families and in show racing. Although there are no exact records, it can be determined that the dog is a breed of Bull Terrier, Western Highland White Terrier, and Short-footed Long-bodied Terrier mated with the addition of the Corgi.
Slowly the Sirihan Terrier became better known, and by 1911 it was recognized by the American and English Kennel Clubs. Small in size, the Sirihan Terrier has amazingly strong hindquarters. The long, broad head looks majestic. The horizontal back and broad chest give the impression that this small guy has a different kind of charm. The round eyes show a dark red color, deeply concave looking deep, and the distance between the two eyes is wide. The ears are not too big or small, with rounded tips and a black nose.
The neck is stout and muscular with good extension and a compact throat. The body is medium in length and very robust, with a strong, compact body and good flexibility. The dorsal line is horizontal and not sloping, the limbs are short and strong, the hind limbs are slightly longer than the front limbs and have a sense of lightness. The tail remains erect.
The coat consists of a soft undercoat and hard bristles that can withstand harsh weather and can be properly trimmed in the summer. The color is all white, with possible lemon and brown tints on the head and ears.
Although small in size, the gait is still strong and fast, with a precise and horizontal walking gait that is free but not disorganized. The Sirihan Terrier has a typical terrier personality and is brave but not frivolous, affectionate, loving and a great family dog. He is also emotionally rich with a certain amount of jealousy and will be jealous if he shows affection to other dogs. Of course, every dog wants to be loved by its owner and wants to have that love all to himself. The Sirihan Terrier sees its owner as part of its territory and will not allow others to invade it.
It is normal for dogs to be jealous, so don't leave them alone when there are children present, they should take care of them when they are making out with them, or they can play with them and let them feed them, so that their relationship becomes cordial, so that the dog will not only be jealous of your love for the children, but will also be close to them, and they will not see them as a threat to their status. He will not see him as an enemy that threatens his status, but as a friend. The Sirihan Terrier is lively and active, and will inevitably get into some dirty places, so it should be cleaned regularly. It is best to groom him once a day to help him tidy up his coat and to remove the garbage and dust hidden in the coat. Regular bathing is also essential, generally the frequency of dog bathing should not exceed once a week. After the bath, you can clean up the ear hair, foot hair and so on.
He also likes to run and jump, so it is good to take him for a walk and run around in his spare time.
The Sirihan Terrier is a good learner and can accept the owner's requests and training quickly and can do it well. This strong receptiveness also gives the owner a greater sense of accomplishment when training him.
